Cleantech Council delegates meet regularly to discover startups and innovation across energy and sustainability technologies and build community with colleagues from like-minded corporations committed to paving the road to a sustainable future through partnership. 

Future Renewable Energy solutions that rely on batteries need a lot of minerals; and many industries have already sounded the alarm around needing more Lithium to grow. The good news is, there are more “rare earth” minerals out there than you’d think given the name - but we need to extract them safely & economically. 
The rapid electrification of our world demands a significant increase in the sourcing of virgin materials for new motors and, most notably, for batteries. This growing demand is amplified by the desire to onshore mineral supply chains and reduce reliance on problematic global supply chai…ah, China, we mean China.

In fact, the global digital mining market (Mining 4.0), which includes technologies like automation, AI, drones, sensing, electrification, is projected to grow from an estimated $8.49 billion in 2023 to over $18.11 billion by 2030, a clear signal of the industry's focus on innovation and efficiency in sourcing [Grand View Research].


Technologies, experts, and startups invited to this agenda are working on:

  • Mining Innovation: AI, robotics, and bio mining (using microbes to extract metals) to make mining safer, more efficient, and more sustainable than ever before.
  • Advanced Minerals: New materials, alternative battery chemistries.

MEETING FORMAT

This is an online, interactive meeting held in our Virtual Lounge to introduce startups to Cleantech Council members and members of the wider cleantech innovation ecosystem. These meetings start with presentations from relevant startups before a roundtable discussion led by experts and involving everyone who wants to contribute. After the discussion, participants have 30 minutes to move freely around our Virtual Lounge to visit our startup presenters at their meeting tables and network with other attendees.
