Silicon Valley, California, May 17, 2024/Meeting Recap/  On May 16, 2024, the Autotech Council and Cleantech Council convened to produce a joint meeting, hosted by Qnovo in Milpitas, California, exploring the latest innovations in battery technology. This "dual council" event drew approximately 100 attendees from both the Automotive and Cleantech sectors, reflecting the critical role battery technology plays in both industries.

The meeting underscored the significance of battery technology for diverse applications, from powering small IoT devices to facilitating mass adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), and enabling efficient storage of renewable energy. Participants shared insights into the ongoing quest for better, more reliable battery options that enhance energy efficiency, power better electric vehicles, provide ESS stationary storage for homes and businesses, improve grid reliability, bridge energy supply and demand, and help reduce carbon emissions.

The innovators & startups addressed topics such as:

  • Potassium ion
  • Manufacturing and quality control
  • Graphite Anodes
  • Battery Performance
  • Safety in impact or intrusion
  • New Battery Chemistries
  • Improved Electrodes
  • BSS and data from batteries
  • Circular Economy

A highlight of the event was a panel discussion focused on the lifetime management of batteries, including performance, risk, safety, reliability, durability, and end-of-life considerations. These discussions provided valuable insights into the complexities of battery technology and the challenges and opportunities it presents.

The event also fostered numerous productive business engagements between presenters and the audience during networking breaks and a lunch session. These interactions exemplified the councils' shared goal of fostering business relationships and accelerating the time it takes for innovators to bring their products to market, ultimately benefiting consumers and contributing to a more sustainable future.

The Autotech Council and Cleantech Council extend their sincere gratitude to Qnovo for hosting the event, to our demo table from UnitX, to all presenters, and panel speakers for their valuable contributions. All presentations will be available in the Autotech Council's and Cleantech Council's Member Libraries.
