Autotech Council community will review innovation and startups working on Big Battery Tech. In this meeting, you'll hear from analysts and experts and meet the founders and leaders of cutting-edge startups developing new solutions for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Battery Electric Energy Storage (BESS).
On May 13, 2026, the Nissan Advanced Technology Center in Santa Clara, California, hosted an Autotech Council meeting focused on technology innovation for electric vehicle packs and Battery Electric Storage Systems (BESS). The meeting featured industry experts who addressed current market dynamics and operational realities. Arwed Niestroj (President & COO, Sakuu) and Kyle Breuning (Director of Applications Engineering, Lunar Energy) discussed BESS innovation and infrastructure requirements. Dania Ghantous (Co-Founder and VP of Technology, Qnovo) delivered an update on the electric vehicle battery ecosystem, emphasizing how intelligent software and hardware integration shape transportation and grid storage.
The meeting also served as a platform for young tech companies to pitch advancements to autotmotive and energy industry scouts, Tier 1 suppliers, and investors. Startups presented on topics including EV charging, battery modules, solid state batteries, battery management, lithium ion cells, lithium restoration, dry electrodes, and energy storage. These presentations highlighted a industry dual track strategy: managing the engineering and cost barriers of long term chemistries, such as solid state and sodium ion, while securing short term gains through manufacturing efficiencies and AI driven battery management software.
Batteries are critical to the future of the automotive industry. So Autotech Council members and investors keep a close eye on innovation and startups in battery tech. This month, we are focusing on new technologies for big batteries and large-scale energy storage – specifically Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries and Battery Electric Energy Storage (BESS). Join in person or online for an agenda packed with tech experts, battery startups, energy investors, and plenty of time for demos and networking.
This agenda includes an expert panel, including Director of Applications Engineering at Lunar Energy and President & COO at Sakuu, sharing insight on what we can expect from Battery Electric Storage Systems over the next few years and up to 5 startups driving the BESS into this bright future. From there, we break for demos followed by a fireside chat with Co-Founder & VP of Technology at Qnovo and a group of startups relevant to EV batteries. As with all Council meetings, the agenda includes in-room demo and meeting tables, startup pitches, and a networking lunch.
